Effective December 31, 2020, the following code changes will require additional information to be submitted for plan reviews along with new in-progress inspections for soffits, Section R704 and siding, Section R703 for all new buildings.
Depending on the Florida Product Approval or NOA for soffit materials submitted for plan review, an additional nailing strip may be required on soffit spans exceeding 12”. The details of the soffit submitted as part of the typical wall must also identify the type of soffit being used along with the installation requirements from the Product Approval.
The in-progress soffit inspection, #133, will need to be scheduled for the day the soffits are being installed and the product approval must be on-site for the inspector. The in-progress siding inspection, #134, shall be called when the vapor barrier, Tyvek, felt, lath or DensShield board, is installed prior to the application of the final exterior wall covering.
