The City now allows a limited number of permits for “backyard hens” that are kept in the backyards of single family or duplex residential units under certain conditions. At any time, only 25 households within the City of Bonita Springs may be permitted for backyard hens.
Interested residents can submit an application to the Community Development permit counter. Applications will be reviewed and approved utilizing the Letter of Determination process at a fee of $50.00. Applicants are selected based on meeting specific criteria contained in the Backyard Hens Permit approved by this Ordinance.
